GoPro (GPRO: $13.90, up $2.20, 19%) The stock was awesome all day closing just a fraction off its high for the day.  1Q earnings won’t be out for another week and by all accounts, they won’t be anything to celebrate.  So what’s up?  The stock rallied on a rumor the company had hired senior Apple designer Danny Coster.  If this rumor turns to fact, it is a huge win for GoPro.  Coster is listed on hundreds of hardware patents and his expertise could give GoPro a huge shot in the arm.  We don’t invest on rumors but with the stock this strong, there is a need for comment.  The stock was on our most favored list before this rumor and continues to have big upside with or without Mr. Coster.

Microsoft (MSFT: $ 55, up 1.3%) The king of desktop software is making an impressive transformation.  Having seen the demise of once-great technology giants like Kodak, Xerox and Polaroid, it makes Microsoft’s progress all the more impressive.  Windows 10 has reached over 270 million users worldwide.  (Not this editor though!) With this success, cloud computing offers genuine leverage with business customers.  Now we learn that Toyota is expanding its deal with Microsoft for autonomous-driving projects.  Who said a leopard can’t change its spots?  All this and a dividend yield of 2.6%. Now this is great value.

Fitbit ($17.00, up $1.85, 12%) Strong day for one of Special Opportunities stocks. We added the stock in late March at $14.55 so we are pleased as punch about this one.  The story about a Fitbit saving a man's life has gone viral.  Citigroup has a buy on the stock and a $30 price target, coincidentally the same as ours! Not to be outdone, Morgan Stanley has a $32 target on the stock. This is no small company, with Street estimates of over $450 million in revenue for the first quarter.Â
